Niexter: Six ways to beat stress

HAVE you ever felt stressed living with your parents? Ever felt like slamming your room door, turning the radio so loud that nobody can hear you scream at the top of your lungs? Are your parents pushing you too hard?

Well, if the answer to all those questions is a resounding yes, here are six helpful tips to keep you from fuming!

Friends are the best antidote.

Our lifestyles revolve around friends and they are the best way to release stress. Go hang out with them and take trips to the nearest mall. Watch the latest blockbuster movies at the cinema. Get out of the house and escape from your parents to “paradise” for a while. It’s worth it. But don’t forget to choose your friends wisely.

Don’t worry, be happy!

Why turn yourself into The Incredible Hulk by being unhappy, sulky and grumpy? Turn it
around! You can take control of your emotions. You can turn your bad mood into a good one. Think positively about what more is to come. Remember there are more people out there facing worse situations than you and nobody wants a glum person around.

Take a stroll in the park.
A healthy mind comes from a healthy body. Exercise often is a method to get rid of stress. Enjoy what Mother Nature can do for you. Don’t stay in bed moping, sweat it out!

Go to school.
There’s always a solution if you can’t hang out because your parents won’t let you. You can always be at school with your friends and teachers. If home isn’t your heaven on earth because your parents are stressing
you out, then make school your haven. Visit the school counsellor to discuss your problems.

Read a decent book
Books are secret weapons to relieve stress. Try reading a book and you will be drawn into it and feel the better for it.

Music is always magic
It is said that music soothes the savage beast. Listening to music can help when you have a case of the blues. But choosing the right genre is crucial. Try not to choose lyrics about suicide or a broken heart, because it might worsen your stress. Choose happy songs that can motivate you, or dance tunes that will make you want to get up and boogie. I assure you no matter what you are going through, there is always “a spark that can light up the dark".
